Emergency Power Gen Set and Fuel Tank

Bunded tanksWhen you live on a farm, there are some things that you require which might have taken you a while to realise. Among these items that you take for granted is electricity.

Specifically, you would not miss electricity until the utility poles fall down and you are left without any power.

Power Generator and Fuel Tank

The only remedy to this is to have your own power generator, preferably a large one with industrial strength capacity. If you are powering up your whole farm, you might think that a 20kw generator is an overkill. The truth is, you would need to re-wire your entire farmstead beside your own house.

You also have to consider the various buildings. The chicken coop, for instance, requires electric incandescent light bulbs. These are a cost-efficient way of heating the chicken coop. You would need to have the garage and tool shed lit up as well.

Connected to the power generator set, you would also need a reliable diesel fuel tank or a fuel bowser. Fairly large fuel tanks are needed if you have a 20kw or larger generator set. This should be enough to keep the farm lit up until the power goes up online.

Double Walled or Bunded Tanks

These tanks store diesel fuel, and primarily used for other farm equipment like tractors, wheat combines, and farm trucks. These large fuel containers are required to be bunded to ensure safe storage of flammable materials.

Bunded tanks have double walls, also called double-skinned or twin-walled tanks. If the tanks are not bunded, then they should also have a secondary containment drum, or a drip tray to collect the seepage.

There are regulations about the capacity and the use of the drip trays with a capacity of at least 125% of the bunded tank’s capacity. The bund tanks should also be impermeable to water or oil and properly sealed against the elements.

How Fabric Structure Foils Heavy Steel and Concrete

A white fabric tentFabric-based shelters are becoming popular structures in Australia. You may have walked underneath one during a large open-air wedding, dined inside them in an al fresco domed restaurant, sought shade under them as park canopy or glimpsed them from afar in some airport hangar.

Lightweight to the Future

Fabric structures are constructed fibres used to build free-form buildings either for temporary or long-term use. The Technical Textiles and Non-Woven Association (TTNA) in Australia explains that industrial textiles including those used in fabric shelters are developed in response to the challenge of using lightweight materials in various industries.

Though lightweight, fabric shelter materials are engineered to meet the global standards of the building industry just like any other building material. The fabric membranes are mixed with wood, metal, glass, and stone, and they are tested to withstand high tension. As such, they are tough, flame-retardant, weather-resistant and can withstand natural forces to guarantee the soundness of the structure.

Their durability has been proven in various industries like seaports, airports, sports arenas, exhibition venues and warehouses that they are used as permanent buildings. Over time, creative minds have found more uses for fabric structures, from modernising building entrances and lobbies to creating instant pods for businesses like diners, cafes, and bookstores.

Heavyweight Benefits

The benefits of fabric-made structures are many and surprising compared to conventional building materials like wood, steel, glass or concrete. These include:

Environment-friendly

They are fully recyclable and require less lighting and reflects radiant heat for lesser energy consumption.

Mobility

Lightweight and modular, they can be moved or transferred to another location or stored for future installation.

Practicality

They are priced less than steel or concrete, use less supporting structures and construction crew and require fewer installation hours than traditional building works.

Customization

Apart from pre-designed or standard structures, fabric shelters can also be built into various shapes for bespoke and unique designs.

Closing

The entry of fabric structure as a cost-effective and innovative building material has vastly improved the construction sector and holds a lot of promise as a material of the future.

What Can a Values-centric Curriculum Offer to Your Child’s Future?

Man studying The Philippines is a country that puts values in high regard, with an emphasis on children’s manners. How children respond to their parents and their elders is something that parents keep an eye on. How they interact in an amicable manner with other people attracts the attention of people as well.

Education plays a big role in forming a person’s values. While some public and non-sectarian schools still provide values education, Catholic schools like St. Edward Integrated School take a step further by integrating values education into their curriculum.

The Need for Values Education

The Center for Curriculum Redesign in Boston provided a solid outline of what 21st Century Education should look like. In their proposition, school curriculums must strike a balance between knowledge, skills, and character.

“Character” represents the principles that values-centric schools aim to instill into their students. Character development, in this case, has much to do with one’s moral education.

In 2015, Dr. Sandeep Kaur stated that teachers and parents play important roles in values development. However, do you know exactly what values development and a values-centric curriculum do for your children’s future?

Holistic Development

For many, the first moral and ethical guidelines are that of their religion. This is true for many Catholics and Catholic schools. They take values education seriously, and one of the promises of a values-centric curriculum is holistic development.

By equipping students with knowledge in various subject areas, schools with a values-centric curriculum can better emphasize in character development. They do this by promoting responsibility, self-discipline, and social awareness on top of the various Filipino values.

Other schools have much to offer, even without an emphasis on values education. However, with a complete understanding of ethical and moral standards, leadership skills, and being civic-spirited, children and older students that receive education under a values-centric curriculum are arguably more equipped for the future.

Tips for an Efficient Transportation of Goods

Logistic by Container TruckWhen transporting goods to different stores, you have to make sure that your products remain in top condition. Here are some tips for an effective and efficient transportation:

Start with an organised inventory

Before proceeding into delivery, organise all items first and check their quality, seal and packaging. Make a plan on how to load the products into the truck, ship or plane. Ask questions like how many products will fit to save you time and effort. Keeping everything organised is a vital technique.

Make use of the necessary equipment

Manpower is a good source of work, and so are equipment, machines and other technology invented to make things easier. For example, instead of just carrying the products, your workers could use stillage cages when storing and transporting your goods. Some designs even have wheels for easy movement. These cages can protect your products falling and breaking, and your staff from slipping and falling too.

Do a final check

Since you have already assured that the products are included in the inventory and packed properly, it is time to consider the transportation proper. Should you use private or public transportation depends on your budget or convenience. Before loading into any means of transportation, always check if the products are still properly loaded and stacked. Load the most possible amount of products but make sure that it will not affect their quality.

Ask for updates

Communicate with the personnel you assigned for transport and have them report any accident or problem they encountered during the delivery.
